This coming academic year will be celebrated as the 25th anniversary of the Smittcamp Family Honors College, which is recognized as one of the top programs of its kind in the western United States and unique within the 23-campus California State University system.

The eight schools and colleges at Fresno State, along with the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, each selected an outstanding student to honor as part of the class of 2023 Undergraduate Deans’ Medalists. This year, three of the eight recipients are Smittcamp Family Honors College scholars.

As a Smittcamp Family Honors College (SFHC) scholar and biology major, junior Keyara Piri was offered a prestigious full-time surgical internship with the Foundation for Surgical Innovation & Education (FSIE) in Portland, Oregon.

Ali, a sophomore with a special major in Neuroscience, truly possesses a love of community service and engagement. As a recognition of the tremendous impact that Ali’s service has had on our local community, he was awarded the 2022 Paul DeRuosi Memorial Community Service Scholarship.
